How does laser disc surgery work?

Discogel injection

Discogel injection is a new method in lumbar disc treatment that has recently been used. In this method, the beneficial properties of absolute ethanol are used to treat lumbar disc pain. Discogel is actually a combination of alcohol, cellulose and tungsten, which is in the form of a gel.

How discogel is injected

In this method, the lumbar disc is pierced under the guidance of C-Arm fluoroscopy and using a spinal needle, then the doctor can easily access the nucleus of the disc using a smooth, flexible and very thin needle and injects discogel.

The amount of discogel injected into each intervertebral disc varies from 0.5 to 0.8 ml. After the treatment, the patient is asked to lie on his back on the bed and rest in the same position for two hours. After returning from the clinic, the patient can gradually resume his daily work and physical activities.
